INITIAL EXAMINATION
At your initial evaluation, one of our orthopedic surgeons will examine your injury and discuss any concerns or problems that you might be having. Treatment options may be discussed at this time, also.
PRE-OPERATIVE CHECK-UPS
If it has been determined that surgery may not be necessary, your surgeon can refer you to physical therapy in hopes of avoiding any surgical procedure. As you attend therapy, an occasional check-up will be scheduled to check on progress and to determine if therapy is actually eliminating surgical intervention.
Sometimes prior to surgery, physical therapy can be highly beneficial. A referral for therapy will be given and appointments with your surgeon will be scheduled sporadically to see how your injury is responding with the therapy prior to the surgical procedure.
POST-OPERATIVE FOLLOW-UPS
After surgery, follow-up appointments will be made to follow your healing process. Your orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist will work in conjunction with one another to assist you through the post-op period.
X-RAY
If deemed necessary, an X-ray can be taken at our office. If you already had an X-ray of your injury prior to your visit, bring it with you.
MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI)
An open MRI scan will may be performed at our office if necessary. MRI reveals better detail about the structure of the joints, soft tissues, and bones of the body. The MRI is read by a radiologist, who then sends a report to your surgeon. Your orthopedist will then discuss your results and options with you.
